Mei Lee travel van
'Turning Red' fan art. Mei Lee small travel van, drawn as part of the 'travel van' marathon for Pixel Art School. This van combines traditional Chinese style, Mei's home elements (like plants and star light garland) and some Red Panda items.
I used traditional Asian food trucks as references and also I took some stylized architectural elements from the original movie.
I had different «mobile room» and the «mobile store» ideas. As a result, this van is more a «shop», but definitely contains several «room» elements.
In this illustration I used a scheme of four complementary colors and their shades: orange and turquoise, pink and green. These colors represent Mei's duality, her two personalities - a modest obedient girl and an active restless red panda.

I also had a variations of background color and I choose a blue in the end because it's a good contrast with main orange van color:
